2012 breeding and tips on brooding chicks

Salam to my beloved readers.
My two hens which both white legged red gamefowl,hatched some eggs this week.
The eggs were from my various hens and pullets since these two were setting
first on the nests,so they have the responsiblity to hatch them.

I am very happy with chicks,since they dont deformed like crooked leg especially.
These are some of the advantages of having hen hatched chicks,as per my observation,
aside more robust from colds and fever within their growing stages when
compared to artificial incubation.Of course you can have the capability to hatch more
eggs whenever you want it to,with incubator.Well,I do not emphasize on quantity tho,
but more on sustaining the health of the chickens apparently.

New chicks hatched by hens above.The hens set 20 eggs each.So far,nearly half hatched.

The earlier chick.6 hatched but only 4 survived.The other two just too weak.

These chicks will stay inside in house brooder for at least 2 months of their first life.Brooding
in house is the only choice that I have since the temperature fluctuations,
high tides and raining seasons.Within these period,I will start my vaccination program
which consist of 3 type of vaccines.These are fowl pox,Newcastle Disease and Infectious
Bronchitis.They also having medication which is Duoko(against coryza
and coccidiosis) for the first week thru their water.And some important point is to maintain
the surrounding temp.Try your best to make them warm,maybe close to their incubation
temperature.I use a normal single bulb @ 25watts for a 1 1/2 feet X 2 feet brooder
and place indoor with a normal room temperature of 27C.

The best ways to treat them is by allocating maximum numbers of chicks in particular size of
brooder.A 2 X 1 1/2 feet brooder size will be able to house a maximum of 5 chicks as I
experianced.The more chicks in cramp size brooder will invite canabalism,boredom
(maybe,I can not talk to my chicks) and led to malnutrition and lastly death.

I always try to keep the brooder clean and away from mosquitoes and domestic flies.

Very active indeed.

Hopefully,the two hens will be setting for another 2 weeks(hopefully) to hatch all the eggs.
A long setted hens can cause trouble to egg since the hens are afraid to go out for
poops and eat/drink,they tend to poop in the nest.

Hens for 2012 Breeding program

Salam,

It is in the middle of fasting season.The heat blasting since the last 2 weeks without any sign of raining and
so did the temperature.
This is the opportunity to prepare farm for planting.The air felt so dusty due to this activity.
Well,hopefully they did not burn nearby forest.
I'm keeping the hens for this coming breeding season.They are given water bath which I spray to them
almost every morning in order to keep their temperature down and it also provide moisture to their feathers.
The hens were consist of green legged red,green legged pyle,two white legged red and a yellow legged red.
This were my pen number uno.

I will be featuring the other pen for future post.

Wormer and Vitamin injectable

Salam,
It a raining since the last two weeks and it puts in alot of stress to the chickens.
The land is wet and it is the best time for bacteria to spawn.
So,today post would be featuring some new wormer and injectable that I obtained
at my local store.The prices alot more reasonable compare to other gamefowl supply
and much more economical.

Vermyzin[Indonesian product].

The new holding pen in progress

Salam

I have been busy doing some holding pen design and making them happen.The pens will fit for 8 individual partition which were 2 1/2 inch square width and lenght and height.They were made from slotted angle bar.
My design took a consideration of ease of dismantling and size adjustment.

Lastly,this is my favorite stag of last year breeding.

Tanaka Pro 338 Super

Salam.
On this post,I will be featuring my new brushcutter.This is my first brushcutter and I hope I made a good deal for it.It cost me Rm800 approx Usd260.
The main reason I bought it because it is the lightest backpack brushcutter I could find in my place.It weight only just below 8 kgs on dry without gas on it.(Yeah,I did the weight it myself).
This cute machine equip with 33.8cc engine,polymer plastic engine setter and backpack,and new cushion design(I hope it was ergo design LOL).
I have pump fresh gas with stihl 2 stroke engine oil on 25:1 gas to oil ratio and I can hardly wait to give it a try and hopefully my brushcutting nightmare wont happen again.
