Raining Season

Salam.
The raining pouring just about everyday this last two month.Few hens hatched their eggs but not many survived. This is due to extreme wet season and mosquitoes too.It a flooding season also and the soil were just to muddy and the best spot for bacterias.

I planned to make some black and grey cross combination for this coming 2012 test.I would like to have a fast swarming and high breaker fighters and hopefully with these combination would yeild more excellent offspring.

Here some of the birds I raised.

Calcium

This is how I made calcium for my chickens.

I obtain this cockle from wet market, and collect the shell for my chicken. After a quick rinse in water,
I dry them up and pound them into corn size grit for ease of chicken digestion.

First hatching Eggs of 2011

Salam,

My 2011 eggs start hatching last week and still haching them until now.I incubate them just after
my hens or pullets lay them and without waiting for other eggs.

I have 11 chicks right now which is out from the incubator and lost around 8 dead eggs.
I went to my cousin wedding last Feb,since my incubator was a manual turner,I asked somebody
to do the manual turning and maybe the turning was unedequate or mishandling during turning
(shaking).I have been away for 2 days straight.Sometime bad things do happen when we dont
want them most.

For this March,I plan to clear up some more on the farm. And this is what I have got for a 1 hour
shoot using machete or "parang"

Some photo shoot during feeding time. This were them pullets and hens.

After finish clearing,I picked two handfuls of fern for my lunch.(I cant shoot a picture with my mouth).

And lastly my last Dec 2010 hatched baby stag. This guy is my favourite.

Until then,tata.

Breeding Season

Salam,

This is the perfect time to start breeding.
The broodcock and broodhen just finished molting and for the
last few weeks back,im pre condition my breeding candidate.

The pre conditioning of breeding pairs are important because this
will ensure of healty offsprings.Usually,I delouse them to rid out
parasites such as mites and lices. This parasites often reside in my birds
because of the location of my chicken farms, which is away from
residences.(You can tell that in the jungle,we can expect many mosquitoes).

Deworming also added into my pre conditioning program.Multivitamins tablet is to
ensure appropiate components present for breeding but I dont use much since
I dont have issue on 'hens that dont lay eggs' or 'damage/abnormal eggs condition'.

I will use a round coop to seperate the broodhens and pullets.Basically,
I will sit the broodhen to my broodcock so that they can mate and will put
back her back to the round coop. This is important to me and I like to know
exact mating that produce best offsprings(that suit me) so that I can make better breeding
and pedigree (genealogy).(I am no expert but I like to learn to make things better,
and I dont like learning from mistake,First thing right everytimes).

Ehm...so how about broodcock?Yes..I did table work on them for 2 weeks and
a full 7 days resting.(Hell no,i wont tablework man fighters)

For the incubator,I did try with a new set up by using a wire mesh as a platform to
sat the egg.But unfortunately,I found it troublesome when it come to egg turning.
So I made my decision to use the old type thing by using egg cartoon.

As the time pass by,so did my experience. In my previous post,I did stated the
hatching rate of this home made incubator @ 60%.Well, the last incubation that
I have made,90% hatching rate is achievable with healthy parents with good
nutritions and clearly a home made incubator can achieve what industrial grade
incubator which far more expensive for your pocket.
